Author A to Z

Janice Preston writes emotionally intense Regency romances for Harlequin Mills and Boon Historicals. She graduated from the RNA New Writers’ Scheme in 2013, with her first novel, Mary and the Marquis, published in August 2014.

After growing up in Wembley, she spent 25 years as a farmer’s wife in Devon. When her children left home for university, she rediscovered her love of history, and of the Regency period in particular, and began to write seriously for the first time since her teens. She now lives in the West Midlands with her second husband and two cats.

Apart from farming, her varied career has included working as a conveyancer, a call handler for the police and an administrator for a teacher training programme at a local university. She currently works part time for a weight management counsellor (vainly trying to control her own weight despite her love of chocolate!)

It's a fact

Barbara Cartland is regarded as the world’s most prolific author with over 700 titles. She wrote 550 + of those after leaving the Romantic Novelists’ Association in 1965 – in protest against the word ‘Romantic' in its title.
