Author A to Z

Julie Cohen grew up in a small town in Maine, USA.  She wrote her first novel at age eleven and in high school she and her best friend spent many chemistry lessons scribbling stories about hanging out with rock bands.

After earning a summa cum laude degree with honours in English from Brown University, Julie moved to the UK to do a research degree in fairies in Victorian children’s literature. As fairies have few practical applications, she got a job teaching secondary school English, joining the RNA and writing romantic stories in the evenings and holidays.

Three weeks after she gave the first-ever workshop on writing sex scenes at an RNA conference, she sold her first novel.  In 2008 she was shortlisted for the RNA Romance Prize. She now writes full time and lives with her husband, a guitar tech for rock bands, and their son in Berkshire.
