Author A to Z

Miriam Wakerly comes from Tetbury, in Gloucestershire, went to Leicester University and for over 35 years has lived in Surrey, the setting of her novels. After a mixed career that always involved writing, including short stories and articles published in magazines, she launched her first novel in Waterstones the day after she retired in 2008.

Her books are not obviously romantic, but certainly have an underlying love story - with a twist.  Love is such a vital part of life, says Miriam, and we would all agree on that!

It's a fact

Most men believe a romantic restaurant dinner and flowers are the way to win a woman's affections.
