Author A to Z

Catherine King was born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and grew up there surrounded by iron and steel works and coal mining villages. She has always wanted to write but was distracted by lecturing and academic work in colleges and universities around London and the South of England, not to mention studying for four degrees! However, it was a search for her roots – her father, grandfather and great grandfather all worked with coal, steel or iron - that inspired her to follow her dream and return to her first love of writing fiction. 

Catherine writes romantic historical novels for Sphere, an imprint of Little, Brown. Silk and Steel was shortlisted for the Romantic Novel of the Year in 2008.
