Author A to Z

I have lived in the same Cornish village for most of my life

My first book was published in 1982. After four medical and ten contemporary romances for Harlequin as Dana James published worldwide – now re-issued by Accent Amour as ebooks - I began writing longer historical romances. The early ones ventured to foreign shores while maintaining strong Cornish links. Recent stories have been set in late C18th early C19th Cornwall with fourteen published between 1999 and 2014.

After joining the RNA in the early 1990s I reached the shortlist for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award with Eye of the Wind in 2002, and was shortlisted for the Historical Prize in 2010 with Heart of Stone.

Teaching the Craft of Novel Writing for over twenty years at various venues has been both a pleasure and a privilege, and ten of my former students are now multi-published novelists.  I have a blog page on my website and contribute to the Historical Romance UK blog and EHFA (English Historical Fiction Authors).  Please do drop by.

It's a fact

Readers of romantic novels buy more books than adult fiction buyers in general and also borrow more from libraries.
