Sheila Norton lives near Chelmsford, Essex, and worked for most of her life as a medical secretary, retiring in 2008.

She has been writing all her life, and her first publications were short stories for children. In the 1990s she twice won first prize in the Writers’ News short story competitions, subsequently winning their Winner of Winners award. Since then she has had short stories published regularly in women’s magazines.

Her first novel, The Trouble With Ally was published in 2003. She then had four further books published under her own name, before adopting the pseudonym of Olivia Ryan.

Sheila writes contemporary fiction about ordinary people of all ages, and their relationships.
