Sophie King is the pen name for journalist Jane Bidder. She has written five novels, including the best-selling The School Run. Her novel The Wedding Party was shortlisted by the RNA for Love Story of The Year in 2010. A Daily Mail review described her books as romantic comedies which are not afraid to deal with the darker side of life.

Sophie has had several short stories published and also writes non-fiction including How To Write Your First Novel; How To Write Short Stories and How To Write Your Life Story. Awards include the Elizabeth Goudge (RNA 2004) and being shortlisted for the Harry Bowling Prize (2004). She gives regular talks at literary festivals and has been on breakfast television and Woman’s Hour.

Sophie is based in London and the south-west where she runs regular writing workshops
