The audience at Freya North's talk
Freya North
A bumper audience was at the New Cavendish Club to hear Freya North address the September 2009 meeting of the RNA.
She began by saying she was delighted to be with us because winning the Romantic Novel of the Year Award in 2008 with her 9th book Pillow Talk has been the highlight of her writing life to date. (It even surpassed the day when she was taken on by an agent on the strength of a page of fabricated reviews…)
During the course of her talk, Freya demonstrated an invaluable author tip - she was able to give a brisk run down of her novels with a single line blurb for each of them. Without notes, even!
Like all authors, Freya is very keen on having the right cover for her books. She has a reasonable amount of say on the UK editions, but she elicited both laughter and sympathy by showing the meeting some of her disastrous foreign covers.
A lively period of questions and answers finished the proceedings. Many thanks, Freya, for a splendid talk.
