Romantic Comedy and Historical or Period Awards

The Romantic Comedy of the Year Award was inaugurated as part of the RNA‘s 50th Anniversary Pure Passion awards in 2010. Following the success of this award, the RNA has also instituted an award for the best Historical or Period Novel of the Year. This is defined as a romantic novel set before 1960 – the year the RNA was formed.

All the books in the running for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award and the Love Story of the Year are also eligible for the Romantic Comedy and Historical or Period Awards.

Nominations for these awards are made by our team of readers, who are asked to score books on their comedy or historical elements.

A committee of RNA members confirms the shortlist of four books. All shortlisted titles are read by a panel of three judges who make the final decision.
