The RoNA Rose Award
This award (formerly the Love Story of the Year) recognises the best in category and shorter romance - novels that focus on the developing love affair between the hero and heroine. These stories are usually published in an easily recognisable format, with several books of similar type and length being released on a regular schedule. Serials in magazines are also eligible.
It will be run in line with the other awards, with the same scoring system. The only difference is that the winner will not be included on the shortlist for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award.
The RoNA Rose shortlist will be announced at the same time as all the others and the prize itself will be presented at the RNA Awards Event in early March. As before, the winner will receive the Betty Neels Rose Bowl, donated by Harlequin Mills and Boon, to hold for one year.
A panel of readers, who are members of the public and not aspiring or published novelists, read the books and give them scores based on such criteria as most enjoyable, good plot and characters. They are looking for books which touch their hearts.
The shortlist will consist of the six books with the highest overall scores and the winner will be the book with the top score.
