Full and Associate membership

Full Membership of the Association is open to all published writers of romantic novels and full length serials of at least 30,000 words. (Vanity and self-publishing do not qualify.)

Associate Membership is open to publishers, editors, literary agents, booksellers, librarians or any others having a close professional connection with novel writing and publishing.

Subscriptions are due each January. The subscription period runs from 1st January to 31st December and there are no part-year discounts:

• £40 for Full Members (£45 non EU based)
• £50 for Associate Members (£55 non EU based)

To be eligible for full membership, publishing in electronic media is acceptable provided that:

1. The author has an enforceable commercial contract from the electronic publishing company, which must be properly established as a bona fide business in an appropriate jurisdiction
2. The contract provides for the author to receive an advance and/or royalties
3. The contract stipulates that the author will receive a proper accounting of sales and payment of royalties at agreed dates
4. It is not an essential part of the contract that the author contributes to publishing costs
5. The novel is subject to publisher selection before acceptance
6. The novel receives proper editorial input

Signing up for Full or Associate membership

To sign up for Full or Associate membership of the Association please fill out the
membership form and send it to the Membership Secretary at the address specified in the form:

You can make payment via a personal cheque included with the membership form. Full and Associate members may also pay by standing order at a reduction of £3. If you would like to pay by standing order please fill in the standing order form and send it to the membership secretary; instructions are provided on the form:

Online payment for non-EU residents

If you are not an EU resident then you may pay online with Paypal or a credit/debit card. To do so please select the appropriate option from the list below. Please note that paying by Paypal is not a guarantee of acceptance into the RNA. You will still have to send in the appropriate membership form. If it turns out that you are ineligible, refunds will be made by sterling cheque ONLY, may take up to 60 days and may be subject to administration costs of £10.
