RNA President retires after 24 years’ service

At the RNA’s AGM today Diane Pearson announced her retirement as President of the Association after 24 years.  She took on the role in 1987.  She said ‘it has been an exciting, sometimes, stormy, but always exhilarating experience’.

Diane Pearson was an enormously respected editor at Transworld having worked with such household names as Terry Pratchett, Joanna Trollope, Kate Atkinson and Barbara Cartland and in 1994 was voted Editor of the Year at the British Book Awards.  Not only was she an editor but also a best-selling author of a number of books, Csardas, The Bride of Tancred, The Summer of the Barshinskeys being just some of them.

Diane Pearson will be succeeded as President by Katie Fforde, Chairman of the RNA 2009-2011
